The World is Our Playground
It's been quite a while since I've gotten around to posting something on this blog. As a mid year resolution, I think I owe it to you guys to post something interesting at least once a week.

2010 has been awesome! Not only have we had the chance to work on pretty amazing projects and meet fabulous people, this year proves to be truly exciting for us because I've been more on board in coming up with the latest designs. This year, you'll notice how our style is slowly evolving. While our chic, feminine, well-researched, creative, clean-lined decor is still our trademark, there'll be a stronger hint of youth.

If I were to pick one word to represent a recurring theme for most of our work this year, it would have to be OXYMORON. We've been working with a yin and yang of classic and fresh, feminine and masculine, neutrals and bold colors, young and old, structured and frilly, cool and warm. It's very representative of my Mom's and my personality. Apparently, opposites really do look good together.

You'll get an idea of what I'm talking about once I get to post some pictures and when our photoshoots come out in your favorite magazines.

So what have we got in store for you? You'll be seeing some of work this year

I'll slowly be putting together a new album and hopefully it'll knock your socks off.

For now, I'll be leaving you with this:

Eve's Countdown to Style

Around two weeks ago, we were part of the Wedding Congress 2008 in Megamall. As one of the sponsors of the event, we were asked to give a talk on Floral Details. It turned out pretty well. Even with the weather, around 200+ atteneded our little talk. We didn't want the seminar to be boring so what we did was more of an interactive type of presentation. If time permitted, we were supposed to get the audience involved, however, there were just so many things to say in so little time. Beth, Raphie and I presented the Top 5 Style Rules You Cannot Afford to Break On Your Wedding Day. We also shared how you can make sure you can avoid breaking any of the style rules. Because we love you so much, we're sharing our Top 5 Style Rules here.

5. Do Not Push the Envelope Too Far.
There is such a thing as going too far with your theme. So know what's tasteful, elegant and timeless. The key is to imagine yourself looking at your wedding pictures in 50 years. Ask yourself, "Will I still appreciate the design then?"

4. Get Real
For any design element, always consider the practicality of it. Think of the cost, suitability, safety and time for execution of the design. For example, are too many candles a fire hazard already? Or is anybody allergic to flowers? If you can identify issues with the design, either come up with a contingency plan or skip the idea altogether. Better safe than sorry.

3. If the Shoe Fits, Wear It.
Consider the ideas you have. Ask yourself and those close to you if it suits you physically and of course if it suits your personality as well. So if your 5'1" like most of us Filipinas, you might want to trade the gorgeous cascading bouquet you saw Princess Di carry for something that works with your proportions. Don't forgot about the suitability of your venue ideas either. :)

2. Do Your Homework.
You need to put your ideas together so that you can tell your stylist what you have in mind. Gather clippings from magazines or books or what have you. Having all the ideas in one place makes keeping track of them easier for you and will help you keep your theme concise and solid.

1. Don't Go Cookie Cutter Style.
It's your wedding so it's your personality that has to show. Please don't let yourself be bullied into something that's not you.

If you'd like more information on these tips, please don't hesitate to give us a call or send an email.

One more thing, we've posted a new album with some of our work for 2008. Just click the link "2008 Portfolio" below. Knock your socks off. :)

Ciao for now. --Meg

A Family Affair

It was the most amazing December for us last year. We did the most interesting weddings and events. There was a Spanish theme, Vineyard, Travel and so many more. What made our December particularly special was our cousin's weddings. It was a really beautiful wedding. I mean, being in the wedding industry and all, you would think you could be desensitized with the thrill that a wedding brings. Apparently not. Especially when it's family. Here's a video by their videographer, Jason Magbanua, who is just spectacular (and will be my videographer as well when I get married). He just never seems to lose his touch.

Other pictures to follow. This time, I think I'll come up with a new album for it too. So watch out for my updates. And because I'm really nice, I'll throw in some of our pictures from our latest Wedding Essentials photoshoot. :)

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!! It's been so long since I've blogged here. And it's almost Christmas!

Christmas Cheer

It's not that we were on a vacation or anything, we were so busy in fact, becoming Santa's little elves. Here are some pictures of the things we made in our little workshop:

Click to Enlarge This is the 25 ft(!) tree in the middle of the lobby. This was during the tree-lighting, formally beginning the Christmas season in Edsa Shangri-la.
Click to Enlarge Here's a close up of the ornaments on the huge tree. Each butterfly, poinsettia, bunch of grapes and fruits were all hand crafted by us. You should've seen the mess/creative-genius during the production of these ornaments.
Click to Enlarge See this butterfly, I glued those beads on :P Let's just say, I'm proud. Hehehe.
Click to Enlarge This is the goodie counter that we helped decorate. Good is now better, so I think we should call this better-ie counter. Nah, it doesn't stick :)
Click to Enlarge Say hi to Mr.Doorman amongst the reversi-trees at the entrance. Half of the tree was inside, half was on the outside. Pretty ingenious if I may say so myself.

These pictures were from our Edsa Shangri-la Hotel Christmas decor installment. Aside from these, we're doing these amazing events this month. There's a Spanish, Tuscan, Punk/Grunge, Pearl and many more. So stay tuned for our next posts.

Stellar

Today, 25 August, we had this event with the theme stellar. And it was definitely breathtaking. Here are some pictures that we want to share with you. There was no editing in these pictures, aside from resizing and adding the logo.

Time Flies...

In a couple of weeks, it's going to be September. I can't help but think how I distinctly remember the New Year resolutions I made. And the fireworks we watched from our relatives' garden. They say time flies when you're having fun. And yes, this year was definitely fun for us as well. It's been a year of amazing projects, media mileage, taking creativity to new heights, change of all sorts, love and above all His faithfulness. If there's one thing I regret is how much of the year went by undocumented. In an effort to remember some of this year's highlights.

Things to catch:

We're Free!!! Hand Over Heart, Please

Happy Independence Day Everybody!!! I don't know about you, but I simply love Manila. And the Philippines. It's so warm and bright and alive! My friend Denise wrote this about this beloved city of ours, and here are some snippets:

You're bittersweet. I hate you yet i love you more than you think. You're so simple, you make me smile. Youre so insanely complex, you challenge me. I get you, and its an honor that i do. The life in you made mine more than worthwhile. Your ideals, very admirable but are sadly lost to forces that you allow in your life. Then you realize they dont give a damn. Oh but i care, i really do. I miss your optimism. Even if life seems so far from being reached, just your presence makes me proud to be the person i've always known. You shaped me and made me strong, not realizing it until now that they took you away from me. I laugh becuase you taught me to. I will see you soon my home, my love, my very own manila. Read More... Denise now resides in Alhambra, CA but she misses our country dearly.

To celebrate, we will jazz up Quirino Grandstand for the Presidential Parade. So, we hope to see you there!!!

Let'S love this country the way we should.

More than Eye Candy

Rumi once said, "Let the beauty we love be what we do."
I was so thrilled when I came across this quotation because it so eloquently describes how we work at Eve & Co. When I think about that's all we really do. We simply reflect all the beautiful things in our (ours personally and our clients') lives. What we do is merely a tribute to all things true, right, noble, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. It's a tribute to the God who is love and who made such beauty.

On other news, get ready for a new look. We're updating our website! You can expect new pictures, new packages, tips for anyone throwing a party. Catch it all in April 2007.

Eve in the Limelight
In this month's (July 2006) issue of Wedding Essentials, catch Eve's take on Victorian Elegance. A full 7-page feature brings you back to the turn of the (19th) century lifestyle and lets you savor an era of grace and grandeur once again. Definitely a must read for those who fancy lace, pearls and the fine things in life.

Eve also shows her Maria Clara side with a Filipinana Bouquet on page 22.

Be sure to get your copies now.

We've also been spotted in Manila Bulletin's About Weddings section. One issue showcases our Afternoon Tea Party in Tagaytay. With us are Ville Sommet (venue), Josiah's Catering (chocolate fountain, tables, and chairs) and Bizu (hor d' oevuers and desserts). A truly delightful garden wedding idea.

In another issue of About Weddings, we were featured with a new venue find, Pearl Hall. Located along Commonwealth Ave, this gorgeous Meditterenean inspired hall is an ideal wedding venue, especially with it's quiet and serene environment, ample parking and it doesn't hurt too much on the pocket. Along with a stellar cast of suuppliers, Manila Catering (food), Emily Sy(gowns), Visions & Ideas (events management), we were able to come up with a very practical package. Amazingly, it's only about P250,000 for the entire wedding. Do see the article for more details.
